Visiting one of the numerous city museums, dive in one of its colorful markets, planning exciting outdoor excursions or just going out to have a drink at the end of the day and feel the cold breeze of the andean night on your skin, at the same time that you smell the firewood everywhere, smell that’s very characteristic of every part of Cusco.

The city offers many possibilities for all the different types of fathers. You can find quiet and sophisticated experiences for a dad looking for relaxation, as well as some adventures for the whole family.

Inka Trail

If Dad is an adventure lover and enjoys seeing as much as possible on his way to a dreamy destination, the Qhapaq Ñan is the experience for him. The Inka Trail or Qhapaq Ñan, is an Andean road system that fulfilled the very important role of communicating the entire Tahuantinsuyo Empire, from Chile and Argentina, to Ecuador and Colombia with Cusco.

It is a stone road in some parts and a dirt road in others. You will be able to observe the Tambos (resting places for travelers) and Qolqas (food stores) all along the route.

The Inka Trail is a very important architectural work and fortunately there are still very well preserved sections that can be visited and used in complete safety.

At Inca Rail we offer you two options to do the Inka Trail according to your time and what you would like to experience..

Puno, Titicaca Lake, Uros and Taquile

After visiting Cusco and all its treasures, Puno is a great option to continue your trip. It is pretty near to Cusco and easy to get there.

Once in Puno, we offer a gorgeous experience to Taquile Island and Uros Community, both located in the middle of Titicaca’s Lake.

Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America, 122 miles (196 km) long, 35 miles (56 km) wide and approximately 351 feet (107 meters) deep. It is also the highest navigable lake in the world. Lake Titicaca is so large that from some points you cannot see the other shore. This magnificent lake is located between Peru and Bolivia, and has 41 different islands, some with large populations with a lot of tradition and textile production, among which two local languages are combined: Quechua and Aymara.

Definitely a tour full of beautiful landscapes and unique experiences worth enjoying with Dad.

Taquile Island

It is located 21 miles (34 km ) east of the city, has a spectacular landscape and a view of the lake with its deep blue waters that contrast beautifully with the warm palette characteristic of this island.

You can clearly see a series of terraces used as cultivation areas for potatoes, corn, quinoa and beans, and also an archaeological site in the highest part of the territory. The stories tell that in times of the conquest, Taquile was used as a prison for some rebels.

The most remarkable thing about Taquile Island is its fine and very elaborate textile production, through which its inhabitants share their ancestral traditions and customs with the visitors from all around the world.

Uros Community

This community is built by a series of artificial islets woven by its own people from layers of floating totora reeds that grow abundantly and generously in the waters of the Titicaca Lake.

These little islands were made in the past because of the Uros people’s need to flee from the Collas and later also from the conquering Incas in their expansionist eagerness. The community is in charge of the preservation and care of the natural resources of the area, including flora and fauna such as birds, fish and little colorful amphibians.

The tour starts early in the morning. We will pick you up at your accommodation in Puno and head towards the Uros community, where you will be able to talk with local people and learn a little more about their art and way of life. You will also see how they move around on handmade rafts made from the same totora reeds and you will have the chance to understand the importance of these islands as centers of trade and commerce in the area.

Then you will visit Taquile where you’ll enjoy the vibrant colors of its textiles, the friendliness of its people and the beautiful scenery surrounding you.

At the end of this wonderful experience, we will take you back to your hotel.
